The Law is changing again...

The new Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 has been laid before Parliament and is due to come in to force on 1st October 2013.  One of the main conditions in relation to this new legislation is the introduction of COMPULSORY identity checks on suppliers of scrap metal.  Based on this we must see:

1   A current Great Britian or Northern Ireland photo-card driving licence.  This must be VALID (see date 4b) and must show your CURRENT address.

2   BOTH OF:

    i.   a valid UK or EEA passport AND

ii.   a supporting document with an issue date not more than THREE

MONTHS before receipt of the scrap metal, such as:

             - a bank or building society statement

             - a credit or debit card statement

             - a utility bill (e.g. gas/electric/water)

             - a Council Tax demand letter or statement

Note: If we already hold VALID copies on our systems then you will not be required to provide further verification.  However, if our copies become invalid or out of date then we will require NEW verification of identity.
